GIS Mapping

Web Map is The City of Red Deer's interactive on-line mapping tool. This web-based system brings information together from a variety of sources and makes it easy to understand through symbols, colour-coding and labels.

Web Map contains information for the entire city - neighbourhoods, land use zones, specific street addresses, and even electoral divisions. Currently the Web Map is based strictly on Red Deer, however we are in the process of building Red Deer County business information into the map.

You can use the Economic Development maps in Web Map to find businesses throughout the city by their NAICS (North American Industry Classification System) code, business name, or business groupings. Simply go to Web Map, launch it, and follow these easy steps:

  1. Wait for the Base map to display after launching Web Map.

  2. Select either the Industry Classifications or Business Finder map from the Economic Development theme.

  3. The Industry Classifications map breaks businesses down in their industry classification groups.  Using the legend you can turn on and off businesses according to their classification category.

  4. In both maps searches are available to help find business by NAICS, name, or group.

  5. Click on the search icon (binoculars) on the toolbar at the top of Web Map.  Then select the search you are interested in from the tabs across the top of the search window.

  6. Clicking on a business parcel will bring up a property window for that business showing the address, phone number, and website.

  7. If more than one business is listed for that address a button will appear in the property window, clicking that button will show all the businesses listed for that address.
