Greater Downtown is a large area in the centre of Red Deer, comprising of the river
valley, bordered by the river to the north-west and Waskasoo Creek to the south-east. It includes Historic Downtown, Riverlands, and adjacent commercial and residential areas.

Throughout the years there have been many new and innovative changes in the downtown core including conception and creation of Alexander Way, additions to Millennium Centre, the construction of the 12 storey Executive Place commercial building, downtown parkade and upcoming city hall expansion.

With the vision of the Greater Downtown Action Plan, the objective of the areas is to become the thriving core of our city, with a cluster of popular urban areas where people can live, work, interact, visit and enjoy themselves.
