Impact Study
Located ten (10) minutes south of the City of Red Deer, the Red Deer Regional Airport (RDRA) is a small community within itself that contributes immensely to the economic health of the region. Supporting two (2) runways, taxiways, a small terminal building and industrial land, there are more than 25 businesses located there, some of which have been a part of the airport community for over 20 years. The impact of the airport and its community reaches far beyond its physical boundaries to touch the lives and provide air access to a population of nearly 80,0001 within the City of Red Deer alone and a further estimated 200,000 trade area. The airport benefits municipal, provincial and federal government agencies, travel agents, those that promote the area for tourism and visitors to the region, local businesses and head offices with satellite offices in the area. Slowly, as the airport improves and adds scheduled air services, the reach of the airport grows to touch every citizen in a region spanning from the Rocky Mountains in the west, to the Saskatchewan border in the east, to north and south along the Queen Elizabeth II highway. The Red Deer Regional Airport is an essential economic driver for the community and a valuable asset.
