Airport Business Plan
A Five-Year Business Plan and Financial Forecast report depicting the future of the Red Deer Regional Airport has been completed by Jacobs Consultancy for Red Deer County, the City of Red Deer and the Chamber of Commerce.
The purpose of the plan is to provide Red Deer Regional Airport stakeholders and funders, the City of Red Deer, Red Deer County, and the Chamber of Commerce, with a framework for the future development of the Airport and to identify business growth opportunities.
Development of the plan included an overall review of existing studies as well as consultation with key stakeholders. An assessment of air service demand and calculation of a forecasted possibility of scheduled passenger flight service are considerations identified in the report.
The Red Deer Regional Airport is the fourth busiest regional airport in western Canada based on aircraft movement and currently serves a number of charter operations.
The study identifies three primary marketing goals and indicates a need to creatively enhance the Airport’s operations so that it can become financially self sufficient within five years. Air Service Development is listed as a key objective. The study indicates that to achieve long-term financial sustainability and generate sufficient future revenues, it is critical for new scheduled passenger service to be obtained. Other findings include, exploring increased airport fees, development of additional general aviation hangers, expanding Airspray operations, and pursuing flight school opportunities.
